About Economic Planning Services
Our Approach
Economic Planning Services (EPS) provides economic analysis and quantitative evidence to support the planning and delivery of major development and infrastructure projects across England, Wales, and Scotland. EPS advises both public and private sector clients on the financial and economic impacts of their proposed schemes, presenting a compelling case for investment alongside a holistic assessment of socio-economic benefits and costs.
The EPS delivery approach combines economic expertise, application of wide-ranging data sources, and in-depth research into project-specific characteristics. EPS works proactively with clients to fully understand their needs and priorities for each scheme, delivering comprehensive technical reports, economic models, and written presentations. EPS maintains a broad perspective in its work — assimilating inputs from diverse stakeholders and producing well-rounded analysis with clear outputs that remain accessible to non-technical audiences.
Our Experience
EPS has supported clients across a wide range of sectors, including renewable energy, carbon capture and storage, data centres, marine infrastructure, housing, and commercial development. The team has played a key role in guiding major projects through planning and consenting processes — including Development Consent Orders (DCOs) under the Planning Act 2008, Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) applications in England and Wales, Developments of National Significance (DNS) in Wales, and the tiered planning regime in Scotland.
This breadth of experience has built deep technical understanding of impact assessment methodologies, awareness of the key socio-economic impacts associated with different project types, and familiarity with the datasets and metrics needed to ensure rigorous, holistic analysis. EPS's work has helped numerous clients secure planning approvals, achieve Development Consent Orders, and unlock project funding.
